Aurora is an Australian model with family ties in Poland.

I had rented a B&B in Asse, near Brussels : La Petite Forêt  (the small forest).

It is an old farm that has been renovated, but whose character has been largely preserved.

The garden is quite large.  There's a green-egg barbecue, a hot tub, a porch swing  and a conservatory.  The conservatory is divided into two sections : the front section is furnished with tomato plants on vines, while the back section houses a made-up double bed with two bedside tables.

The rear conservatory seemed to me an incredibly beautiful opportunity for outdoor shots.

My wife and I later saw images of the kitchen in the cottage on the cooking program 'Njam' on Flemish television.

Aurora is a traveling model, so she doesn't have much luggage and no fixed address.

I told her in a text message that I definitely didn't want to pick her up in the heart of Antwerp or Brussels, but rather at the train station in Mechelen. Mechelen is a smaller town located between Antwerp and Brussels.

But the day before the shoot she texted me that I could pick her up in... the center of Antwerp, in the Steenhouwersvest.

I parked my car in the underground parking garage not far from there.  "If I'm quick, I won't have to pay parking," I thought.

When I arrived at Steenhouwersvest, I called her.   She told me she was still working on a shoot, so she'd be half an hour late.

She showed up a good half hour later.    

I paid over seven euros in the parking garage.

On the way to Asse (Brussels) we had a nice chat about Poland and Australia.

But at some point, she told me she'd been bitten by a tick.  That's how she contracted Lyme disease.  The doctor had forbidden her to walk around outdoors, so definitely not to pose.

There went the better half of my photoshoot !

We were approaching Brussels, so I had to pay close attention to the voice instructions on my phone.  One wrong turn and we'd be lost.

At that moment, she got a phone call.  Later, she told me it was her brother.  Whoever it was, she was chattering so loudly, probably in Polish, that I could barely hear my phone as cars tried to merge left and right.

She told me the following: When I landed from Australia, I had to go through customs. They found my package containing makeup and personal care products suspicious, so they held it for inspection. 

A few weeks later my brother received a message that the package contained nothing suspicious, so it was forwarded to a location on a street somewhere in... the center of Brussels.  

And since I had a reliable GPS in the car...

I confess I was about to explode for a moment, but the thought that being a traveling model is not so easy stopped me.

We reached Asse and the b&b safely.

Aurora posed professionally, but she avoided the outdoor shots I had been longing for.

Afterwards, I took her to the center of Brussels to pick up the package, and then to the center of Antwerp.
