'Our' third year photography teacher, Gert, invited us to the photo studio of a professional printing company on the Left Bank of Antwerp.  The studio had changing rooms and make-up tables.  There was also one large room that could be divided into several smaller recording studios as desired.

All kinds of high-quality lighting equipment were at our disposal, from giant octagon softboxes to point light devices.  Beauty dishes and fresnel lamps, for example.  A dream come true for any photographer.

A modeling agency provided the models : many beautiful, young women and also the occasional handsome guy.   At the start of the recording session, Gert had the four ladies line up in a row.  He called it 'meat inspection', somewhat irreverently.  They accepted it with a smile.  The female stylist took care of their dressing and even the make-up.

To be honest, I'm quite headstrong.  I had my own suitcase with all kinds of posing accessories. That didn't always go down well with Gert, who expected me to be a bit more docile.

"It's up to you to ask them if they want to pose nude," Gert said. That was a bridge too far for us, good beginners.  One of the models revealed that she had undergone kidney surgery, which left her with one large semi-circular incision on the left side of her torso.  The result was a hideous scar.

Was this an excuse?  Maybe.  But I was inclined to believe her.  She is a very pretty model though.
