You can find this statue of a young woman at the Lochtenbergplein, Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor, Brecht, Belgium.

There is an explanation on the pedestal :

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

   Design by M. Donckers

   Made in 2008

'Do not go gentle into that good night' is the well-known poem by Dylan Thomas.   Each stanza of it ends either with this line or with the line : 'Rage, rage against the dying of the light'.   The poet begs his father, who is dying, to fight against death, against the extinguishing of the light.

The female appearance carries a kind of blanket on her back.  Is she ready to spread it out ?

There is something remarkable about the statue.  When it rains, the stone becomes completely black and ugly.   Then the woman carries a black, somber blanket.

After two to three days of full sun, the statue has dried and is white.  Then it looks radiant, especially at night when spotlights are on it;  the light has triumphed.
